GLOCK pistols are among the most popular handguns in the world. However, with the large choice of models, it’s not easy to keep track. The main question is: which GLOCK is the right pistol for your needs? Now there is an updated version of the GLOCK Buyer’s Guide for 2021. You can download it here: read on to learn more.
GLOCK has so many different models on offer that finding the pistol that suits the shooter best is not easy. And the new models for 2020 are also worth considering for many customers. Reason enough for GLOCK to provide a revised Buyer’s Guide with all new pistol models. We are introducing this new version here to help you find the “right” GLOCK for you.
Which GLOCK model is the best?
In 2007 GLOCK published the incredible success story of more than 5 million pistols sold. Today, with the new rimfire G44 the manufacturer offers pistols in 8 sizes and 8 calibers, with over 50 models as well as 5 generations and a wide range of options. However, all models of this pistol family have one thing in common: they belong to the top-of-the-line products among handguns.
Safety, simple operation, outstanding firepower, minimal weight, and true reliability at unique cost-effectiveness – these are the features that make GLOCK pistols capable of meeting even the highest demands.
Inside GLOCK pistols the revolutionary Safe Action System provides a consistent trigger pull from the first to the last round. Thereby the three automatic, independently operating mechanical safeties are built into the fire control system of each pistol: the trigger safety, the firing pin safety, and the drop safety. When the trigger is pulled, all 3 safeties disengage sequentially. And they automatically reengage when the trigger is released.
The “best” GLOCK pistol in general does not exist. There is only the “best GLOCK” for your personal use and preferences. The new Buyer’s Guide will help you with this.
This brings us directly to the question: how can you find the right GLOCK for your needs?

What to keep into consideration when buying a GLOCK pistol?
All pistol models from GLOCK offer identical features and advantages. There is little difference in terms of handling and maintenance. Furthermore, every single GLOCK pistol is test fired to ensure flawless function and accuracy out of the box.
GLOCK pistols are available in several calibers: 9 mm Luger, .40 S&W, .380 Auto, 10 mm Auto, .45 Auto, .357 SIG, .45 GAP, and .357 SIG – and most recently, in .22 LR, with the G44. In addition, the well-known manufacturer offers different pistol models in the Standard, Compact, Compact Slimline, Subcompact, Subcompact Slimline, Longslide, Competition, and Crossover product lines.
The fifth-generation pistols – GLOCK Gen5 – in particular, impress with their additional features: nDLC finish for barrel and slide, ambidextrous slide lever and reversible magazine catch, flared mag well and enlarged magazine floor plate, no finger grooves, and backstrap and beavertail system as well as GLOCK “marksman” barrels for increased accuracy. Thus, Generation 5 combines the technology of the future with the improved accuracy, versatility, speed, and reliability you expect from this company.
Which GLOCK pistol is suitable for what use?
Each pistol was conceived and designed to accomplish a specific purpose. For example, the G41 Gen4 MOS – Modular Optic System – is ideally suited as a match pistol sports shooters. Their engineers developed the Modular Optic System pistol configuration to simplify the mounting of common optical sights. The associated pistol comes with 4 adapter plates for easy mounting of optical systems from Noblex (fomer Docter), Meopta, Insight, Trijicon, C-More, and Leupold.
The so-called “C” models – GLOCK compensator pistols – reduce recoil and improve accuracy. The barrel and slide of the compensator pistols feature 2 ports, through which gases can escape more quickly. This means that the compensator models from GLOCK are easy to control, especially with rapid firing strings, and guarantee the best groupings.
However, which model is best suited for a particular application ultimately depends on your personal requirements for a GLOCK pistol.
